Default Yay! Our family finally has a horse!!

And his name is Ralph. We sponsor a horse at an Equine Adoption Farm; we found this farm by blessing shortly after we got the diagnosis that our 3 year old twin girls are on the Autism spectrum. So instead of seeking a therapy farm for my girls, we are able to sponsor and help with the upkeep of a horse that would have otherwise been destroyed. Our girls can ride Ralph whenever we can get out to visit with him and we also help out on the farm where 15 rescued horses are housed and I am amazed by the owner as to how well she's revived all of the horses she has and all are healthy and just fine now. It's SO nice to be able to share my passion for horses with my girls, albeit through a mild disability and if we can finally get a home in the country we'll be able to take Ralphie home with us.

Here's a pic of him:

He's with my 16 year old daughter in this pic!

Welcome.
Cute pair.
Looks like Ralphs nursing an injury.
Just a thought- no insult intended.
The barn looks very nice- but just because I can't see from the picture. My mind automatically goes for the worse. Do make a suggestion if the back wall is corrigated metal to the floor, that some sort of wood kick boards or even real thick rubber mats be attached. Would hate to see an injured horse from a kick through the metal.
Yes, horses get hurt when/where they can.

Again Glad your here.

Ralph will likely have to wear a splint on his leg for the rest of his life but for a few hours at a time AND if he doesn't do anything silly while in the pasture. All of the 15 horses on the farm where Ralph lives have either been abused or neglected. Ralph didn't make it far on th racetrack and was left to walk on a broken ankle for six months before his owner got to him and he spent two years in rehabilitation and can walk just fine now but most of the time with a splint. Otherwise he is a very handsome horse, my favorite color of horse, I'll have to check his breed again. It's sad that if he'd have been treated right away he'd have healed up perfectly.

Welcome to HCC! He looks like quite a sweetie! It makes me so mad that someone would just leave him after an injury like that, I bet if they'd broken an ankle they would've gone to the doctor immediately!

Congrats on the handsome boy!
