Default Meredith Manor

My daughter is attending an Equestrian school called Meredith Manor International Equestrian School. Has anybody ever heard of the school and if so, what do you think?

Default Not what you want to hear

It was a really good school about 30 yrs ago.
As a 2yr educational track they are right on par with most other community colleges.
The Equine program is not very well respected anymore.

In this economy any further education is a good thing- so look at it that way.
Wish her the best.

Do you know of other schools like Meredith that have a better reputation?

Unfortunately, most of those little associate type Equine schools have folded or are not very well respected.
What exactly does she want to do.
Alot of the really strong Equine professionals, have a degree in something far from Equine, a minor in Business and spent many years in working student/Apprenticeship positions.
But here are a few;

University of California, Davis
University of Kentucky's Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Center
Virginia Tech
Centenary College
Delaware Valley College
Southern IL University
Virginia Intermont

Some of these are very pricey, but currently the top in the nation.

Of coarse, if she is not looking @ horses as a profession and she is happy @ Meredith no real reason to change.

She is taking massage therapy but since arriving there has developed an interest in horse training. I don't know that she knows what she wants to do as much as she knows what she DOESN'T want to do. She doesn't want to go to a college with the traditional required "show" program. She's not very social and she does not like the clicky girls and intense competition. She's been riding and showing english pleasure and hunter since she was 5 years old. She loves hunter paces and has done a little eventing (very little!). She just wants to learn about horses without all the other stuff!!!
