Hello Everyone!
I am from Wisconsin and love to look at forums and different horse type of websites. I live in Barneveld, WI and have a smaller horse rescue. NOT looking for donations, just will be asking some advice from time to time and hopefully helping folks find homes for their horses and helping others to find that dream horse! I always welcome advice and try to answer questions regarding horse rescue. I have been in the 'rescue' business for almost 7 years now. I am a very small rescue and have 11 horses right now. Boy, have learned a whole lot over the years. Right now, i am not taking in horses but I have a big network of horse friends who are looking for that perfect horse. Since I still do get many, many calls and emails from people looking to re-home their horses, I can offer free advertising on Petfinder.com. etfinder.com is so wonderful since many people look at this site. Probably 80-85% of my past adopters have found me this way!
The economy has hit most of us hard and unfortunately it's our dear wonderful pets that have to be rehomed because of it. I just want to help people who are in trouble financially if I can. I am hoping (eventually) to develop low cost gelding, hay and euthansia programs. I welcome any type of advise and comments. I want to help owners keep their horses. I also would like to see less breeding. Dont get me wrong, if you have wonderful horses that are breed-worthy and are still getting some decent money for your foals, more power to you! With as many auctions as I have gone to, I just see so many weanlings, yearlings (and older) get sold for as little as $10.00 and most go to slaughter. I am very much against horse slaughter and just dont think this is the answer to our overpopulation of horses. I have friends who are pro and against slaughter. I sure am not a perfect rescue but really try to be as good as I can be. My rescue name is Second Chance Horse Rescue and the website is
www.2ndchancehorserescueranch.org I assure you that I take more time in caring for my horses than then website! I am pretty busy alot of the time working full time plus and working with the horses, but I welcome volunteers and visitors when I am home!
Thanks so much!
