Bonjour From Louisiana!
Hello everyone =]
My name is Alisha, though I usually go by Ali.
And I actually only joined this forum for some advice on our TB gelding (I`ve posted in the health section) Though I`m begenning to think I`m going to enjoy this forum much more then I expected =]
I`ve been around horses since the day I was born. My mother being a horse lover, I naturally followed in her footsteps. For the majority of my life, I rode western. By the time I was 5 ,I was competing in small barrel racing competitions, and enjoyed poles, as well as western pleasure. I live on a 'farm' out in the country, and for the most part as a kid, my daily routine consisted of getting down and dirty, and playing with the horses in the pasture.
However, around age 11, I took up a completely differen`t ballgame, English. I always loved watching the jumping competition on the TV, yet always assumed the sport was way to costly. When my mother found my trainer (She is still my trainer today) I was thrilled. Jumping quickly became my true passion. And I really owe it to my trainer, who is wonderful at what she does, and most importantly, and great friend. She often invites us over for dinner, we see movies together, and help eachother out. I find it very rewarding not to only be her 'student' but her friend as well.
Anywho. I`m currently jumping around 3'6 in shows right now, and around 4ft during training, on a TB gelding that we`re currently leasing from my trainer. I`m also in the process of training two horses to jump. My trainer`s 4yr old Dutch warblood, who, will wind up being my permanent mount. And our new arabian mare, who I`m really just training for fun.
Along with out arabian, we also own a TB mare, who is western. Our off-track TB gelding. And my Mustang, who is also western.
So thats pretty much the run down of my horse-orientated life =] Wow, I really didn`t expect to write so much! lol.
