Talking g'day from upstate NY

My husband and I have taken on 2 young thoroughbreds who didn't make it to the track from training. One is a 4 yearold gelding and the other a 3 yearold mare. We are absolute newbies to keeping horses. For now they will be pasture pets but who knows, maybe one day we will ride them. I had an old racehorse that I rode when I was a kid but hadn't been around horses very much in years. My husband is a city boy with a country heart. We have 15 beautiful acres including 2 pastures so have decided to give these beautiful animals a loving home. I know it is going to be a lot of work and we didn't do this on a whim. Luckily we have a horsey neighbour who is going to be a great help (he already is). We have a lot to learn and hope to find answers and tips and friendship on this forum. Our horses are Banjo and Matilda (I am an aussie and these are very australian names), our two border collies are Ruby and Brissie and we have a cat name Ivan. I will post some photos of our family real soon.
