Smile New today-4-1-need advice on leasing

Hi, I live in the east bay-Ca., and got banished last eve. at the barn where I lease someone's horse. To make a long story short-I could not close one of the gates, told the owners on the walkie talkie-which died due to battery failure. When I returned-in the dark , cuz I went a different way, I apologized to ea. owner-told them it will never reoccur. After the husband/ owner shut the gate, he had a brief talk with his wife, and then I was banned forever-no second chance!!!! ( Liabilty reasons, he said). I am looking for another lease/ older horse/ reasonable price and am a novice. Any advice for me? I am very easy to get along with, but it became apparent that the owner did not like me from the start-she is VERY intolerant of novice riders. Any info. would be appreciated. I am already missing my Arab cross buddy, since we bonded for the last 6 months.

Default Welcome Missy

Sorry about that barn. Sometimes it is better to get out when the gettins' good. Sure they got a second chance somewhere.

No very forgiving. Could see kicking someone out for a two in a row with something like the security gate. But that should really fall on there "drive through". Doesn't sound like to safe of a place anyway.

welcome aboard. Hope you find a facility soon. It is hard not to ride when you get the fever. Or have been around horses for awhile.

Lightbulb Try older people

Hi..Sorry about the problems..I am sure it was hard since you bonded with the horse there..
Try finding an older couple or older person who does leasing..I think the older horse people are more into it for the love of the horses and not the $$$$$ etc...No offense to younger leasing people..I think older people enjoy haveing someone around. They cant be as active and maybe cant even ride anymore but they enjoy seeing someone out there rideing and enjoying the horses. Look on the net for horse barns..horse lessons etc..in your area then stop by unannounced..I know it is a little rude..but that way you can see how the people act..if they are nice and happy to talk to you on a spur of the moment then they are prob. pretty nice all around people.
Good luck
Gin

To bad you didn't live near me. I wouldn't mind leasing out one of my horses to someone. I have 5 that are ridable and I'm the onlyone that rides but I find myself not riding much because I don't have anyone to ride with. My nieces used to come out alot and we'd ride but there getting older and into other things.
So anyone near Roanoke Indiana that would like to lease one and have a ridding buddy let me know!

Welcome to the group! Sorry you had such a lousy first time experience. It will get better and later you will look back and just feel sorry for them because they lost a great chance to help someone else. And you will be that more considerate of newbies when you are the experienced one.
