Smile New Member From Ohio

Hi, yall! Thanks for the invite. I am in ohio. I have 3 tennessee walking horses. My 6yr old gelding is black & white tobiano and my 11 month old gelding is chestnut roan and white tobiano-overo and my 12yrold mare is black & white sabino. My mare will be bred again in sept. I worship the ground they walk on! LOL My horses are kept on my sisters land. I turned the house there into a barn. We have no electric or running water. So we realy rough it! But they are sooo worth it!!!!
I hope to learn alot here. I sure could use some help with training my young gelding!
I hope there's some more TWH people here.
Missy

Thanks, for referring me, Cathy! Whiskers is a TWH too....lol Grace and of coarse cracker jack is TWH. Cracker jack is getting sooo big. He's so much bigger or around the same size as most of all my friends 2yr olds. I havent took the stick to him for a few months but last time he measured 14.2hh. I think he was 7 or 8 months then. Most people think he will top out about whiskers hieght, which he is 17hh. One of my freinds says I have mutant animals...lol I tell her I dont know how I end up with animals so big, I guess something in there wheaties? lol I realy wish they were alot smaller but I still wouldnt trade them for the world! I have started an obsticle course for cracker. But I need more ideas on what to have for it. I have a skid for a bridge, a long piece of metal sheeting, a large tarp, some orange cones. He walks right across the creek. I can walk him thru the woods and by the road. He is soo eager to learn right now. I want to throw at him everything I can. He pays attention and just does whatever I ask of him. With the acception of his flymask...lol Its funny hes not afraid of it but he sure dosent want to wear it...lol I dont know how to put pics on here. Tell me how to and I will put some pics of cracker jack and my other 2 on here.
Thanks, Again

I just started working on haltering them. This should have been done long ago but I just couldn't with fractured ribs , now it's going to be a job and a half.
As for the picture thinglol I'm just now figureing that one out for myself, I do know you can put pictures on here by using http://photobucket.com/ . You can out your pictures and videos on there and it works to upload them onto this forum and alot of other places. I just have to figure out how to resize them for here.

Welcome!

Sorry I don't have any TWH, but I do have a young horse that I am training.
We might be able to get some pointers from each other.
Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job with Cracker.

Thanks! I'm sure trying to do right by him. He makes it so easy to teach him. He's such a sweetheart. He will be my new spare trail riding horse. I think a girl wants to show him at the county fair next year too. So Ive got to get him ready.
What kind of things are you doing with your baby? Anything different than I'm already doing?

Isn't it sooo nice when they make it easy to work with them.
My 3 year old is like that too.

What makes it easy with him, he has been worked with so much since he was foaled.
Started lightly at 2 and a half, but not physically ready at that time.

He just turned 3, so we are riding at the walk and trot.
I do tons of ground work too-all the things you are doing plus line driving him.
We go through town with the traffic-so far so good with cars and motorcycles.

I have ponied him also off of my older horse.
I lunge him over ditches and embankments also so that he is used to stepping down and through things rather than jumping them. lol

I put the lunge line around each one of his feet and have him lift them, that way he is used to things being around his feet. Helps when you get them into the woods.

[size="4"]Hi Missy,

Welcome. Man Craker is going to be huge!!!!!! I should work on taking Copper over and threw things. I just tie him to the trailer pick his feet out, fly spray and then load him in the trailer. Hes been going to 4H meetings and learning to do halter. Hes doing really well with it. I have walked him down the road a couple times and the traffic doesn`t bother him. Oh and we`ve had the saddle on him and Miranda has sat on him a couple times, shes real light and its only for a couple minutes. I have lounged him a few times but hes not real good at staying in a circle....lol. I need a round pen.
