Default Lower Cannon Swelling

Does anyone have any good input for an affordable therapy for a swollen cannon? After the horse stands for a evening it tends to swell. Now this is not all the time but at least once or twice a week?

Once He gets moving it is okay.. circulation problem or damage? He isn't even off really when you ride him it is just swollen.

Thanks for any input.

How long has this been going on???? Usually, if a horse kicks a wall or casts himself, he will stock up and with some exercise it subsides, then appears again for a couple of days. I would recomend using DMSO. That should take the swelling down and help with any pain he might have.

Default Long Time for DSMO

Now is that the stuff they used to use for boxers? I remember trying that stuff used to be a "wrap" technique?

I don't remember if I applied it with a pourous set of gloves but I could not get the taste out of my mouth for days! Is it still a gel?

It is still a gel, but I found that works best on most horses. You can also try Numitizine, but that is more exspensive and a bit harder to find. I use it on my horse's tendon and it works pretty well.

Default Doing Better = Exercise

The Horse is doing alot better thanks, being working a little more and seems to be less and less stiffness. Maybe whatever the issue was it has worked its way out. Hope so will keep you updated if it appears to relapse.

Thanks again for your input.

Default No Relapse

Looks like whatever it was has worked its way out, at least the swelling. He is a little stiff once in awhile but nothing to speak of a couple steps and he seems to be right through it.

Just thought I would drop that note in. And thanks for that input on what to use.
