Here is Gimme A Dream, Woodmere Frilifili and Willow Breeze all dressed in their winter coats and their halters all helter skelter. But the picture is amazing in that I managed to get all of them with a wide-eyed curiosity and their ears all up. That doesn't happen often.

Awww, they are cuties!! Wow, they certainly get a thicker winter coat than ours down here! Though that could be due to the fact that mine are all rolley poleys and didn't get as thick of a coat this year...hmmmm...

They are adorable.
Have a thing for Bays, do Ya.

I was thinking the opposite, my mare that was born in Nebraska has that much hair and more. She sweated alot this season. Although was much happier than the rest the week and a half of 5 to -14

We're down south also though. It doesn't get as cold here in the winters as it does in PA. That would add... I used to be of the opinion that some horses just genetically grow longer coats than others... until my friend moved to northern- Michigan and all of her southern-born horses started growing coats 4 inches long! But maybe some just do...? I do know when I have a horse that is overweight during the cold months, he/she does not grow a very thick coat. So I suppose the body fat is partly a contributor.
