Default catching a mule foal

Does any one have suggestions on catching a mule foal for the first time? My little mule is 3 mos old now, I was told that mules never forget nor forgive.I was told to be carefull around her for this reason, they said to just let her come to me and try touching her a little at a time, i am getting impatient with this process ,Any suggestions or should I just be patient and let her come to me on her own time? She is in a 10 acre pasture just her and the mom, should i maybe put her in the corral and make her flight space smaller?

Not a Mule person.
But common sense tells me the longer you wait the harder it will get.
What is suppose to be the reason she decides she should allow you to handle her.
Seems like right now she has the good life and really no reason to change.
But again I'm not a Mule person.

I am most deffinitly not a mule person either but in the past month have found myself with two 3 y/o mules to break to saddle. I think you most deffinitly are on the right track by starting early. The largest difference i have found so far is that while a horse needs you to be the definite leader of the herd, a mule just needs you to be their Moma. Its like having two different children, one that needs a spanking to be kept in line and one that won't respond to corporal (sp?) punishment but just melts with the "I'm dissapointed in you" treatment. With the mules if they misbehave i use the momma "NO" and turn my back to them. They always come to me head lowered to say sorry. If they do something right, they are lavashed with praise.

I would recommend moving Mare and foal into a smaller space (do you have stalls?) and if the foal is weaned or starting to be weaned, try food and time as the door to friendship. After dinner just go sit down in their pen with a bit of sweet feed or treats. Do this consistently and i bet you have a new best buddy you can eventually get to do anything for you.
