Default Just trying to help others

I have designed a website to try and help others who have underweight horses and what to do to get them back to where they need to be. I did a lot of research, asked a lot of equine vets questions, and spoke with several, more experienced horse owners on what they recommend would help.
Feel free to check it out and if you like it, pass it on. If you feel there are things that I can add, change or just have general questions or comments, please let me know.

There are alot of very good websites that have the research behind them.

I read it over;

Quote:
To start, offer a horse that is suffering massive weight loss some good quality hay
What type/cut-those two little factors can change alot.
Quote:
For an 800 pound horse, this would equal about 16 pounds of hay daily
That is equal to conditioning a healthy horse, and again type.

Quote:
If your horse is elderly, old or cannot chew properly, you may need to turn the hay into mash
I would need to be educated on this.
Quote:
Specialized feed for geriatric and mature horses may work as well.
What is a specialized diet.

Quote:
A good mineral or vitamin supplement
Varies greatly on location/region.

Quote:
After two weeks of the hay diet, you can try to introduce grain again
May or may not be a good time frame, each horse is different.

Quote:
sprinkling it on the ground
not recommended

Quote:
You can start with one pound of grain, two times a day.
Start with 1 CUP of XXX depending on horse.
Quote:
you can increase the grain by a pound a day
Can not imagine that any qualified Vet or Feed Rep would have suggested this.

Quote:
six months to see normal results
What is considered normal.

Quote:
Flax seed is not harmful. The amount of toxin is so minute it has no effect.
A very dangerous false statement. Yes, fed whole and in some extruded quantities it is very toxic.

Quote:
When your horse has gotten some of its strength back
Severely dibilitated animals really need to be monitored by experienced horseman.
Although love and attention go a long way-the saying "kill with kindness" can also be true.

On a personal note, good for you to step in and help a horse.
I do however feel that this kind of information needs to be left to the experts.

I checked out the website and as far as the overly simplified and partly plumb wrong information is concerned, Ltc4h has said it all.

As far as the website itself goes, just more of the same.

You do not make a bunch of money with Google Adsense ads and links - whatever somebody tells you. The best ration is 1 : 100 - so only one of 100 visitors will click on the ads / links. And that will get you about 10 cents.

It is to me a sad trend that more and more websites use marginal information trying to attract visitors and make money through ads / links.

My main site is about Morgans and my horses and runs at about 1000 visitors per month. While I have links to some other sites of mine, I do not allow ads. I want my visitors to read my information - not hopp over to someone else.

If I see an ad pop up as the first thing of a page, it is my conclusion that the owner of this site cares more about making money than providing helpful information. And if I see "teeth whitening" while looking for feeding information - it just @#%& me off.
