Default Does she need a chiropractor??

I just bought my horse sprinkles a couple months ago. the lady i got her from said last winter she fell on the ice and she thought she threw her hip out. I have been riding her this year and havent seen any problems with her being sore or anything. Until the last time i took her out. She had a slight limp. Im wondering if i should take her to the chiropractor. Is there anything else i should look for to be able to determine if she did throw her hip out? she is nine years old and she acts normal and runs around the pasture without a limp at all. Please help. is there anything i can do to try to help her if there is a problem?Thank you

If you want a really good licensed vet & actupuncturist, his name is Dale Synder DVM . He travels all over working on horses and some dogs. I do like chiropractors, but they vary a lot. Some are not good and to find a good one would take some effort on your part. Dale is a vet and a darn good one, plus ge does the needles. He has worked on my horses and has worked miracles. He lives in Texas, if your serious you can locate him. He is definately more bang for your buck.

I'll assume that a PPE wasn't done prior to you getting this horse.
A good Vet can go over her and give suggestions. They might suggest a Chiro/Accu, but ABSOLUTELY get a Vet recommended one.
How bad was the lameness.
Remember head bobbing is a front end lameness.
What other muscle issues does she have, crooked legs, atrophy across rump, stifle tilted, heat/swelling, etc...
Also check feet a poor Farrier job can make a sound horse lame.

while a vet may be necessary i would try simple solutions first. Just like with our kids, we sometimes jump the gun with our horses ailments. I would start by putting her in the round pen and seeing if you can isolate where the pain is coming from by watching her move. if it appears to be lower leg; hoof test, look for heat in joints, etc. She may have just stepped on a rock or twisted her ankle playing in the pasture. If you cannot find the source of pain, then call the vet.

Thank you very much for your help. when i first got her she had a horrible hoof trim job done on her. The farrier cut her hooves so short she could barely walk on the cement it hurt so bad. And her hooves were horrible cracked. This is a horse that needs some work but i am working with her. I had my farrier come out to check on her feet and he was disgusted at how bad of a job was done on her. He put shoes on her front feet and that helped a lot. I put Hoof Alive on her hooves every other day and feed her nutrients in her grain to help with the hooves and i can tell a huge difference already. I also noticed she is fine in the pasture and when i ride her on the grass. She does not like the gravel and that is when she limps at times. So i think her feet may be bothering her a bit yet and that may be why she limps. Thank you so much for the suggestion of that. I am new at owning a horse a bit so i am still learning.

lol we all turn mountains into molehills when our babies hurt. I remember the first time my gelding got caught up in a rope. I think i had the vet out like three times in two weeks.
