Default Average annual medical cost for healthy donkey

I am doing some research because our family is considering owning a donkey and I need to find the average annual medical costs for a healthy donkey. Does anyone know?

It's very similar to that of a horse.

Your expense breakdown will have the same components i.e. farrier, vet, feed, housing, etc.

Sorry I can't be more specific but, I hope that helps!

HI,

Im not sure as to your location (which is important b/c cost of feed and care will vary greatly accross the states) but in NC you can expect:

Farrier: 40$ for hoof trim every 5-6 weeks
Vet: 150-200$ twice a year for farm visit and vaccines, 200 and up for emergency visits.

One of my friends abroad told me that probably about $600 a year would cover the expenses if you have a healthy donkey that needs a minimum amount of care.

I would say about $500 on just veterinary care for check ups, routine blood work, vaccs, worming etc. But the farrier costs would be on top of that.
