Question What should I use on stomach ulcers?

I was wondering what everyone is using for stomach ulcers? I have a 6yo mare that isn't eating and her bowel movements are loose. I looked at Gastroguard, GastroMax3, and Ulcergard and wanted to know if anyone had a preference?

I have never had a problem with ulcers but know of people that have has sucess with Gastrogaurd. Since it is usually not helpful in the long run to treat symptoms instead of the underlying issue you should look for a cause before treating the symptoms. For example, is she stalled or streessed? If so she may just need to be turned out more often.

If you suspect Ulcers it's best to have your horse scoped for a definate diagnosis.
I've had luck w/ Ulcer prone horses by feeding grass [even to injured stall bound horses, pick muck tub full by hand] alfalfa & small feedings 6x daily.

I have had great success with FinishLines U7. After 30 days use my horse was scoped again and the ulcer was clear. I will continue to use U7 to prevent any reoccurrance. One month supply is about same cost as one dose of Gasrogard.

I very much recommend AbGard for ulcer treatment, been a customer of them for a few months now. I have also used their gastric probiotics and they seemed to work well, plus they're pretty cheap.
