Well, I have been around my fair share of horses and pregnant mares but I am stumped when it comes to what my mare is doing. She is about 3 1/2 months along, and this is her second foal. She was the sweetest mare during her first pregnancy. But this time she is doing some things I have never seen before. She has become extremely vocal any time that she see's me. When I feed her she squeals and rings her tail from side to side. The really weird things started yesterday. I washed one of the gelding and once he was dry I took him back to the turn out and as I was turning him loose she came up and greeted him almost like a stallion would do, then struck out at him like a typical mare. Then yesterday evening my friend (and her kids)came over to she her horse (who lives at my place). As we went to walk into the turnout (there was 4 of us total) she came up to us, I went to grab her fly mask and as I did she reared up, so I made her back up and got after her. As I went to walk back up to her she began to back away and the without warning reared again and struck out at me this time catching me on my cheek with her foot. This is so out of character for her she has never acted aggresive like this before. So I was wondering if any of you have had mare act weird once they have become pregnant. In all the years that I have been around pregnant mares I have never had one act this way.
I did go to the doctor and after 4 hours and a CT scan they have comfirmed that I am a blonde and there is nothing up there.

Everything check out fine and I will have one heck of a black eye and probably a nice little scar next to my nose where I got cut. I also will call the vet on Monday and see if she has any idea what might be causing this. Just thought I would see if any of you have had a mare act aggressive while she was pregnant?
