Default Waterers

Does anyone have a durable waterer? I mean man these horses can bust them up quicker than I can get down to ace hardware?

I am getting sick and tired of trying buckets, automatics, auto floats, I have even tried 100% polycarbonate.

Don't get me wrong but for crying out loud shouldn't an American ranch company have something that will last a couple years for you have to start mending it?

I guess I am on a rant tonight?

Have you tried a big hole in the ground with water? Just kidding they sound pretty hard on stuff. I have a 100 gallon tank out in the turnout that is made of heavy rubber (like the black feed pans) I have had it for 4-5 years now and it has held up through all of the horses, our super hot summers and cold winters. I can't remember off hand who makes it but I had bought it at a feed store. I had changed to this because mine were denting and kicking/pawing holes in the metal water tanks.

Hope you find something that works.

Hanover Shoe Farms [Standardbreds-No not people shoes] breeds 2000 horses per year, all of their fields have cement 100 gallon waterers, they are fed with underground lines have floats to maintain water level and drains so they can be cleaned or left empty, the yearlings break a few of the floats a year, but overall it works very well.

We've got "holes in the ground" (that's a good one p8nt, I'll be using that phrase for Ponds from now on) and creeks. Some of our neighbors that use tanks, have those big black THICK plastic/rubber? type stock tanks. I can't remember who makes them...ok just looked it up. It's Rubbermaid. Those tanks I've NEVER known to break. We have one (but don't need it to water anything) and the siblings have used it as a "Boat" for the pond for the past 13 years. Before that it was a waterer for horses for about 5 years.
