Default Small Feeders for a Horse

I am not sure if that is a good title, I saw a feeder someone had made which I also thought was a good idea for feeding Horses in the pasture. You can place a half square bale of hay in it and keep it off the ground about two feet. You can also put sweet feed in it, water, etc.

Take a Plastic 55 Gallon Barrel and saw it lengthwise to make two feeders.

Install two 4x4 post to hold feeders at each end, via bolts so that when you need to empty feeder or clean you can spin it upside down. Install chain with latch to keep Horses from turning it upside down when they shouldn't.

Hope I described it well enough, I can make thing much better than I can write.

Yes, they work very well and are cheap and easy to make.
One major down side, the plastic can shatter when run into during the freezing months we have here in Pa, the edges are very sharp.
In warmer climates they do work well.
