Default commercial and alternative diets for a race horse

hey can anyone offer me any advice on how to find out nutritional information about commercial and alternative diets for a race horse please.

Not sure I completely understand what info. your trying to find.
The nutrition information of a commercial feed can be found on the manufactors tag.
Alternative-I'm assuming this is whole unprocessed grains & roughages.
The only way to know the true NV is to have them tested, although there is an average range.


TDN-Total digestible nutrient system
To determine the TDN value of a feed, numerical coefficients of digestibility are applied to each of the nutrients contained in the feed. The TDN value is the sum of the digestible crude protien, plus the carbohydrates, plus 2.25 times the digestible crude fat.

Morrison Feeding Standards-has a flow chart that helps w/ those calculations.

hey thanx for your reply, im doing an assignment on this specific life stage of horse, and need to find the nutritional requirements for it, and what commercial diets are available for this specific life stage and also alternative diets that can be used in place or combined with the commercial diet. i have no idea what companies would make such commercial diets for a race horse, horses are my weak point lol

this one is nice question, i also very keen to know the proper nutrition diet for race horse...!
