Default Electric Fencing

Thinking of putting up some electric fence for a temporary pasture restrictions. But It has been a long time since I had one.

Anybody up there have good experience with a better brand or system to use. It will only be for no more than 3 horses. And will be using flagging tape to designate a boundry.

Any suggestions or current good systems would be appreciated.

I have never heard of using electric fences with horses. Interesting idea! Do horses generally like the feeling of having visible boundaries? I guess the flagging tape could act as a visual boundary for them.

I'll look forward to reading the replies!

I use the electric tape, It's visible and my horses really seem to respect it. I Used 3 rows of the tape on T-posts and made a temporary pasture. I also run it off of a solar electric panel. It's actually really simple to put up and fairly inexpensive.

I use the electric Tape also. It's called Horse Guard Fence Tape and they do have a website, though I can't remember the address. Maybe do a search? I use 2 strands but one will actually do the job quite well since it is so incredibly tough, visible and effective. In the past 6+ years of using it, we've only ever had one break, and that was due to someone driving over the top of it with a vehicle (thought they'd lowered it enough, but hadn't). I very much prefer it to regular electric wire.

We also have the braided electric tape/wire which is actually a nice sized little pen used for traveling to trailrides/shows and is solar-powered so easy to set up in the middle of nowhere!

Yes, the tape 2 1/2" . It comes in brown or white. I use "Safe Fence" I find the current travels through it better than the cheaper brands.
Put mine on wood posts, 3 strands for all pastures except 5 strands for Stallion field.
Which shares one side with another field, no one bred by accident.
It has been 12 yrs since the first fencing was done, and it is still good.

There is also green. I wouldn't prefer it however as it seems it'd just blend with the grass!
