And not always the largest amount of whatever vitamin/mineral supplement that is in a product will always be the best product to buy. It is also in how well your horse's body can absorb all of the nutrients in the supplement.
For example, feeding a rock-derived/based mineral is not going to be as effective as feeding a Plant derived mineral which would absorb and be able to be broken down much easier within the digestive system.

Getting too much of any single vitamin or mineral actually does make the body think it is low in other vitamins or minerals. Like taking Vitamin C when you have a cold, doesn't always necessarily help, and when you take too much, the body thinks it's low in A,B,C,D etc... and will automatically crave foods with those other vitamins in it in order to balance the level out again.
