Default Tank Heaters

What does everyone use to keep their waters from cracking or freezing over. We used to have to use to tank heaters to keep our horses waterers from freezing in Idaho and with winter coming up it made me think of the good old days of having a wooly bully.

I miss my horses not getting a furry coat. Shoot I miss not having Hair also!

I guess that is why we have cowboy hats.. Oh that gave me a good cowboy joke. Gotta go.

Default Tank heaters

My horses shy away from the water tank when the heater is plugged in. I have a ground fault outlet and have a safety ground at the tank. The safety ground is a copper pipe driven into the ground with a copper wire attached that is fed into the bottom of the water tank. I have checked for voltage potential from the water to a good ground and have no problem there. I'm begining to wonder if they are detecting the magnetic field of the heater while it's operating. Has anyone experienced this before.
