Default I am Stallion-Less!

Hello everyone! Just catching up, sold him a couple of weeks ago but have been so busy I haven't stopped by to mention.

Was one of my top riding horses, but I have not been breeding alot as of late, and NONE to outside mares (I don't like the over poplulated breeders/horses, and everyone else just wants to breed their backyard "mutt") ugh. So finally decided to sell though I will always love him to death, I know he has a caring and responsible home.
His name is GHOST SHADOW (aka Amigo) Out of Anns Shadow by Poor Hollow Blu Ghost and Buzz Bar 1958 AQHA Roan Stallion SI-95/ROM Race/17-2-3-2, $4,553/H-3.0 By the Stallion Three Bars (AQHA Hall of Famer).
He is an 80% Color producer to Solid colored mares. Went to a small farm near Memphis TN where his owner will breed him to a handful of private mares only and otherwise will continue to ride him as I did on the trails (thank goodness! I didn't want him living the rest of his life in a tiny little stud paddock with nothing to do but service mares).

This was taken in '06, me and Amigo.

And a couple of photos of him at his new home and with a couple of his new mares (pony is a companion)

Hey girl, Yes he is a reg. APHA, though I could also have reg. him with PHA (Pinto Horse assoc) though that is just a color breed registry.

Yup, ponies make great companions. They can also be great little annoying brats too haha! Gotta love 'em though

Oh right pinto.. His color is beautiful.

Yea, ponies do have that "I can do what I want" attitude..
Is it me, or do regular sized horses have a more gentle
attitude then the ponies?

Well yes (I have the feeling that didn't make sense) if no one knew his breed, they would say he is a Pinto "horse" (just knowing the color)-
If you know he has either Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred blood, they are a Paint (which is the breed registry)
Yes to both, He has pinto/ or paint markings, and he is a reg. Paint quarter horse (he has almost no Thoroughbred blood in him so I just say Quarter)

I hope that's a bit more easy to understand lol.

Sooo... then I take it you knew that they had either TB/or Quarter blood ? (that is the only Paints)

... otherwise they would be called Pintos.

have anything to do with this thread, but
they are awesome, they deserve a place.
I don't know what coat those paint horses had..
But i'm sure it was a tovero and a piebald, lol.
I looked on google and that looks like it.

Don't feel stupid !! Horse breeds are fun to research. I think I learned a huge chunk out of just being a member of 4-H. I competed in Horse Bowl and Hippology contests alot.

I actually meant what breed those horses were

Oh, oops.. Didn't know you meant the horses' breeds
I have been staying up late alot, so I guess I wasn't paying
good enough attention. Those horses looked like painted
quarter horses They didn't look like any thoroughbred I
had seen. But i'm sure they are not in the pinto variety.. I
looked it up and it said pinto can be on alot of breeds.. Is
that right? I really do feel stupid, lol.

Your so lucky you went to 4-H, it sounds like alot of fun.

I'm terribly sorry! I am so awful at explaining some things. That's actually what I was trying to say. Pinto is actually a color. A mustang can be a Pinto (or you could say "HAS PINTO markings, either way), a Walking horse can be a Pinto etc...

If you drove by a field of horses and didn't know their breed, and they all had pinto markings, you'd say "OH look at the Pintos!"
But if you walked up to the owner and asked what breed they were and she said Quarter horse, TB, or Appendix then you would say "Oh LOOK at the Paints!!"

If you KNOW the horse is either Quarter horse or Thoroughbred, or a cross between both (called Appendix Quarter Horse) and they have the two-tone markings they are an official "Paint."

Basically ONLY Thoroughbreds, Quarters, or the Appendix's can be classified as Paints if they have the markings. Though there are also Solid colored Paints, if they are registered with the American Paint Horse Association and just happened to turn out a solid color. Still considered the "Paint" if registered that way.

I hope that makes sense now, sorry for all the confusion !

Thank you for clearing up the confusion!
That makes sense, thanks for explaining
Okay, those horses I saw were paints, with the
quarterhorse/thoroughbred breeding. Wow..
I was pretty confused

Thanks again!

I know, it was confusing to me too until I finally figured it out...

As long as you knew those horses were either Quarter horse, TB, or cross between both yep they're Paints!
