Default Has anyone used American Bridle Bits?

Hey - wondering if any of the great people here have ever used or known someone who's used a bit from the American Bridle Bit company? I know they have four different bits and two hackamore styles; if anyone is familiar with any of them, would you share your experience?
Thanks!

I'd never heard of them but I just checked out their page. I am a little hesitant about the one hander, but the ez rider and the ringmaster show promise! Wow they're expensive though!

I don't have personal use of these.
But do not like the fact that they are marketing as "humane"

I realize that this is a long read, but I have found it to be the most easy to understand and knowledgeable web info out there.

I like the floating mouth pieces but other than that, know nothing of these type of bits so couldn't say how effective/practical they are.

Ltc4h, you say you have an issue with calling the bits 'humane'? I'm curious - would you care to expound on that point?

First IMO, once you put any object inside the mouth, you crossed beyond "humane" and I find great displeasure that some companies still use this word as a marketing ploy.
As the saying goes"like putting a razorblade in the hands of monkeys"
A very good handed competent rider can use the harshes of bits in the mildest of ways and vice versa an incompetent heavy handed rider can turn the mildest of bits lethal.
Once you go beyond a snaffle-and I acknowledge there are extremely harsh snaffles- to any bit that adds leverage. Which than makes it a curb bit, you automatically create a stronger bitting effect.
What part of stronger="humane" ?

I have used the one hander for some time now.
The mullen mouth piece piece does not have the nut cracker action of the snaffle and I find horses respond to it much better. Also the cushioneing effect of the flexible bars allow for that odd time when an accidental jerk of the reins would otherwise be rough on the horse/. No matte rhow good you are it occasionally happens.
A bit is only as hard as the hand that holds it.

I start my horses out in a bosal. After a couple of weeks I use the one hander to teach neck reining and then i go back to the bosal.
The bits I use are relatively thin. My reason being the horses dont like a lot of metal in their mouth so the thinner (within reason) the better.
I have been breaking horses for 55 years now and in my time have trained over 500 horses for saddle or harness.

Default Need one hander bit

Hi I am wondering if anyone out there may have a one hander bit they would be willing to sell. I believe the company has gone out of business. I am trying to locate one for my grandaughter who has a paralized arm. Her trainer believes it may help her . Thanks for any help or info you may have Barb

I haven't personally used one, but they look like they have some promise and I'd be willing to give them a try.
