Default Beeper Alert

Is it true that there is now a chip or "cell" that can be injected or inserted into your horse and a beeper that you carry on your person that if your horse leaves a certian parimeter it goes off.. kind of like a lowjack for horses?

I heard someone talk about it? But I said I never heard of it and can't find anything on the net about it.. so it must not be true.. but not better place to ask then here.

Though I am not aware of such chips but I feel it can be entirely possible. If radio collars can be used to monitor the movements of other animals something similiar can be used for horses. The problem is it might not be commonly available or used.

I know id chips can be placed in cats and dogs. I was not aware of that for horses, but it does make sense. How did you hear about it?

You find it let it be known I would love something like this.
I practically went bezerk a few years ago when a horse was stolen nearby and finally got myself to stop walking the pasture looking for my gals all the time.

One of our mares is freezebranded by the US but we plan to brand all three with our farm brand and a number to identify that particular horse. Have also looked into microchipping as well!

I do know that they can now microchip horses, much in the same way as they do dogs and cats. In fact, any animal can be microchipped, or so the companies claim. This is the first that I've heard about any sort of alarm being placed into the chip, however. If they -can- do this, it would be wonderful for all pet owners, but then you have to wonder about the usefulness of the product. After all, what do you do if you go out for dinner and are x amount of miles away from your horses? And what would you do if you have multiple horses? Would they have a built in tracking device too?
